The heart of SY5
The Stiperstones is the broken quartzite ridge that closes off the western side of the district, about ten kilometres of it, with the Devil's Chair the biggest of the tors along the top. It is the second highest ground in Shropshire and it is the skyline from Pontesbury, Minsterley, Snailbeach and Stiperstones village. The whole ridge is a national nature reserve with open access, and people walk up it in all weathers.
